MINUTES OF INTERIM MEETING HELD FOLLOWING A SOCIAL EVENT AT THE HOME OF
STEVEN AND MICHELLE TALBOT
ON SUNDAY 21ST JUNE 2009.

The Event was held to help promote the UKDA . A BBQ was shared by 22 people and 10 Dobermanns. David Anderson (President) opened proceedings following the BBQ by introducing himself and Marc Harvey as President and Chairman respectively. David spoke at length on the proposed aims of the UKDA and what had been achieved during our first year. Marc gave an in depth report on the clubs aims and proposals. Both reassuring everyone present that the welfare and health of the Dobermann was paramount. It was pleasing to see how everyone was very attentive and interested in what both David and Marc had to say which is very encouraging for the UKDA. Some of the people attending have not been in Dobermanns for more than a couple of years and these were the people asking the most questions and receiving positive vibes. An Agility demonstration was carried out by Michelle Talbot with Myer, who has only just started Agility Classes this year. It was clearly seen that although Myer is a ‘Show Dog’ she was very happy and keen to participate in Agility. Martin Horgan gave a very good demonstration and talk on Schutzhund. Which opened lots of people to the prospect of doing ‘other controlled things’ with their Dobe. Martin was very encouraging and offered much information on how to start training a very young puppy. Bracco was absolutely marvellous and received many cheers from everyone proving that a top dog in one thing can go to great things in another. Sandy Clam (Treasurer) then gave a brief insight to tracking, which was very well received. Dave ensured that everyone was instructed on what was happening and there was again a wonderful response and many questions and answers taken. Applications for membership of the UKDA were handed out and I believe that we will have at least 10 new members. The officers of the club present, only membership secretary was absent, had a brief meeting and also because we had an Accountant present Sandy was able to have her books and bank statements checked and recorded as a true record. A raffle was held and together with donations the club received £105.00, which was an excellent start for another year. The evening continued with everyone talking about the good things that can happen within the Dobermann fraternity with effort and time and patience. All in all, the event was a huge success. Thanks were given to Steven and Michelle Talbot for their hospitality. The event was closed about 9.pm
